Based Between Blackheath And The Medway Towns

Most of my week is spent across South East London, but a good deal of the work takes me out into Kent and across into Essex. It is a stretch of country with an enormous amount of period housing in it, from Georgian townhouses in Greenwich and Canterbury to Victorian terraces in Dulwich and Tonbridge and village cottages in the Darent valley.

Each of those places asks something slightly different of a sash window. Exposure, damp, salt air, conservation rules and the age of the housing all change what needs doing and what it is sensible to spend. The pages below set out what I find in each area and how I approach it.
